The Chelsea Chronicle understands that Chelsea were checking on long-term target Joel Ordonez at the weekend.
Chelsea were amongst a number of the clubs in Belgium to see Club Brugge’s win over Union SG on Sunday.
21-year-old Ordonez is a player that Chelsea are well versed on and consider him a viable option for January. We understand that Brugge would rather keep him but he would be available at the right price in the January window.
We have previously revealed that Moises Caicedo has sung the praises of his fellow countryman to club officials.

Chelsea send scouts to watch Joel Ordonez
Having lost Levi Colwill for most of the season Chelsea had decided to go against Enzo Maresca’s wishes and not sign another central defender but they have been beset with other injuries and they are ready to back Maresca with another defender in January.
Graeme Bailey has told The Chelsea Chronicle that the Blues are now seriously considering signing a centre-back, with Ordonez one of those who they are doing work on.
He said: “Chelsea are now looking seriously at bringing in another centre-half, their options are being stretched and they are now doing work on potential options including Ordonez – who they have liked for a long time.”
Injuries and suspensions have proven to be a real issue for the Blues at the back. By the end of the win over Liverpool, there were no fit first team centre-backs available, leaving Reece James and Jorrel Hato at the back.

Boehly gives in to Maresca demand
After a goal and red card in his opening game of the season, Ordonez has been a in regular in the Club Brugge side both domestically in Europe.
They are off to a decent start in the Champions League too, picking up a dominant 4-1 win against Monaco in their opening group stage fixture.
Chelsea fans should be delighted to hear that the board are giving in to demands made by the manager, especially as it comes not long after there was some criticism coming his way.
There is still universal backing upstairs for Maresca, and it looks as if he could be about to become a whole lot happier at the board in the coming months.
